Privacy Policy

Japa Calculator is built for Nigerians making one of the biggest decisions of their lives. We believe your data should be treated with the same seriousness. This policy explains exactly what we collect, what we don’t, and how we use the information that passes through our systems.

What Data We Collect

Calculator inputs

When you use the Japa Calculator, you enter your profession, salary range, destination country, and family status. These inputs are processed to generate your scores and AI analysis. They are never stored with personally identifiable information — they are saved only as anonymous aggregates to power Japa Pulse trends.

Email address

We only collect your email address if you voluntarily sign up for Japa Pulse updates via the newsletter form. We never collect email addresses through the calculator itself.

Basic usage data

Netlify, our hosting provider, collects standard server logs as part of hosting. This includes your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. We do not add any additional tracking on top of this.

What We Don’t Collect

• No cookies. We do not use cookies of any kind.
• Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to measure page views, traffic sources, and user engagement. GA4 collects anonymised usage data. See Google's privacy policy.
• Microsoft Clarity. We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with our pages (heatmaps, scroll depth, click patterns). Clarity does not collect personal information and data is anonymised. See Microsoft's privacy disclosure.
• No personal financial data is stored.Your salary input is used for calculation only and saved as an anonymous aggregate — it cannot be traced back to you.

How We Use Your Data

• Calculator inputsare aggregated anonymously to power Japa Pulse trends (e.g., “34% of users explored Canada”). No individual submission can be identified.
• Email addresses are used solely to send Japa Pulse updates. We never sell, rent, or share your email with anyone.
• Server logs are used to monitor site performance and security. We do not analyse them for marketing purposes.

Data Storage

• Anonymous calculator aggregates: stored in Netlify Blobs, encrypted at rest.
• Email addresses: stored in Netlify Forms, encrypted at rest.
• We do not transfer data outside of Netlify’s infrastructure.

Your Rights

• You can request deletion of your email by contacting report@japacalculator.com.
• Calculator submissions are anonymous and cannot be traced back to you.
• You can use the calculator without providing any personal information.

We rely on a small number of trusted services to run Japa Calculator. Here is exactly what each one does and where to find their own privacy policies:

• Netlify(hosting, forms, serverless functions) — Netlify Privacy Policy
• Cloudinary (image delivery) — Cloudinary Privacy Policy
• Claude API via Anthropic(AI analysis) — your calculator inputs are sent to generate analysis but are not stored by Anthropic or used for model training.
