Frequently Asked Questions
How is the comparison score calculated?
We use rank-based normalization. For each factor (cost, visa, salary, safety, healthcare), countries are ranked 1st through 18th. The best rank gets 10/10, worst gets 1/10, linearly interpolated. We then multiply each factor by your weight and sum to get a 0-100 match score.
What data sources do you use?
Cost of Living uses Numbeo and IamExpat (verified March 2026). Visa Accessibility is editorial (our assessment of difficulty for Nigerian passport holders). Salary is verified profession-by-profession. Safety uses Global Peace Index 2025 and Numbeo. Healthcare uses CEOWORLD Health Care Index 2025 and Numbeo. Every data point has a source URL in our verification manifest.
Can I adjust the weights myself?
Yes. Tap "Customize weights" to see 5 sliders — Cost of Living, Visa Access, Salary Potential, Safety, Healthcare. Drag them to match YOUR priorities. The other sliders adjust automatically to keep the total at 100%.
How often is the data updated?
We verify core data (salaries, cost of living, visa policies) every 90 days. Exchange rates update live from an external API. Safety and healthcare indices are updated whenever their source organizations publish new rankings (typically annually).
Which country is cheapest to move to from Nigeria?
It depends on your profile, but Ghana, Rwanda, and Portugal consistently rank cheapest when you weight Cost of Living and Visa Access heavily. Select the "Budget Optimizer" profile above to see your ranked list.
